Facial Veins or broken veins, are fine visible veins appearing near the surface of the skin. These veins are usually red in colour and form a reticular or net-like pattern on the face, cheeks, nose, chin or legs. They may follow acne as a teenager or exposure to the elements such as horse riding or other outdoor pursuits. Facial or Leg veins appear in clusters and tend to become larger and more intensive over time.
The causes of Red Veins can be due to Exposure to the sun's ultra violet rays, wind or extreme temperatures, steroid creams, hormonal changes during pregnancy and radiotherapy. Facial veins or Red Veins can also be associated with Rosacea, a common condition of an unknown cause, affecting the facial skin.
