Sculptra ® is widely known as 'THE LIQUID FACELIFT'. It is a synthetic injectable material known as “poly-L-lactic acid.” Poly-L-lactic acid is a biocompatible, biodegradable material that has been widely used for 25 years in dissolvable stitches, soft tissue implants, and other types of implants. It is made by Sanofi Aventis who are the third biggest drug manufacturer in the world. Scupltra ® is NOT a filler and is used instead to volumise and repair the aging face especially where cheeks have fallen giving rise to grooves between nose and mouth.

Sculptra ® was initially licensed for restoration and/or correction of the signs of facial fat loss (lipoatrophy) in people with human immunodeficiency virus. It’s most common application now is in those without HIV that have signs of aging, mostly fallen or wasted cheeks or deep nasolabial grooves (lines from nose to mouth). Sculptra ® restores the appearance of the cheekbones and fleshes out a thin face giving it the appearance of youth.
